Second Edition of the “Together” Project – Halqa with the Imams in Wiltz (Gallery + Video)
The Muslim community of Luxembourg experienced another moment of unity and spirituality during the second edition of the “Together” project, organised by the Shoura. This halqa, which brings together the imams of the Grand Duchy each year, took place on Saturday, 22 November 2025 at the mosque of the Islamic Association of Wiltz (AIWL). The event gathered numerous worshippers who came to share a programme rich in knowledge and emotion.
The evening began with the opening remarks by the President of the Shoura, Jasmin Jahić, followed by a recitation of the Noble Qur’an by Hafez Yousef al-Migbari.
The theme chosen for this edition — “Prayer: Protection and a Cause of Success in This Life and the Hereafter” — was explored from various perspectives by the imams present.
The host, Mr. Fikret ef. Kalabić, spoke about the central role of prayer in the life of a Muslim, while Nedžad ef. Zilkić highlighted the importance of purity as an essential condition for performing it correctly.
In another talk, Sheikh Salim Yahiouche reminded the audience of the dignity with which a believer must present themselves before their Lord.
The reflection continued with Hafez Zikret ef. Mustafić, who stressed the importance of inner humility (al-khushû‘), before Hafez Anass Doukali discussed the centrality of Surat al-Fatiha, the true heart of prayer. Hafez Ayman Zubayr then explained the particular significance of the standing position after rukû‘, a moment of praise to which Allah grants special attention.
Mevludin ef. Hajdarpašić then highlighted the nobility of the act of prostration, a symbol of the believer’s dignity.
Following him, Irfan ef. Hasanović emphasised the power of prayer to protect from sin, while Hafez Sead ef. Subašić reflected on the richness represented by the minor differences between the schools of law in how prayer is performed. In a gentle message, Hafez Seid Klica reminded the worshippers that each prayer performed elevates the believer.
The final talk, given by Mr. Bekir ef. Makić, addressed the seriousness of abandoning prayer. Finally, Hafez Hilmija Redžić, Muslim Religious Leader, concluded by speaking about the great value of dhikr after the obligatory prayers, a living bond between the believer and their Lord.
Throughout the evening, nasheed performed in Bosnian and Arabic enriched the spiritual atmosphere of the event. They were presented several times by Amar ef. Horozović and Salih Ramić.
A Special Moment: The Announcement of a Surprise
One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the announcement made by the President of the Shoura. During a recent meeting in Brussels, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia informed that the Muslim community of Luxembourg had been granted four sponsored places for Hajj.
The Shoura decided to allocate three of these places to the mosques in the country, each nominating one candidate according to the conditions set by the embassy. The draw selected:
Ejup Kurbardović (AIL), Zahir Vujić (CICBL) and Karim Aknine (Al-Rahma).
As for the fourth place, it was reserved for a member of the Shoura or the Waqf Lëtzebuerg Foundation. This year, the choice fell on the Secretary-General of the Shoura, Lukman Aličković, who will join the selected pilgrims.
A Project that Unites the Community
This second edition of the “Together” project confirms the value of this initiative, which has become one of the major events for the Muslim community in Luxembourg. By bringing together imams and worshippers from all the mosques in the country, it strengthens unity, mutual understanding, and the spirit of brotherhood that characterise the religious life of the Grand Duchy.
