Central Khutbah: “It is enough that Allah knows you”
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, his companions, and all those who follow the path of truth until the Day of Judgment.
My dear brothers and sisters,
In the Qur’an, Allah says:
“We have sent messengers before you. Among them are those whose stories We have related to you, and others whose stories We have not related to you.”
(Surah Ghafir, 78)
This verse reminds us that there are many servants of Allah — righteous, sincere, and faithful — whose names we do not know. They did not become famous, they are not mentioned in books, but they are known to Allah, the One whose knowledge never forgets.
In a beautiful saying, it is mentioned:
“If people are unaware of your worth, do not be saddened. It is enough that Allah knows who you are.”
In the army of the Caliph Harun al-Rashid, there were twenty thousand soldiers whose names were not recorded in the official registers. They received no salary, and no one knew them — except Allah.
They fought sincerely for the sake of Allah, and when they fell as martyrs, their names were not written on earth, but they are recorded with Allah.
One day, the names of some nobles and dignitaries were mentioned in front of Caliph Umar ibn al-Khattab. Then the names of some unknown righteous people were mentioned. Umar began to weep and said:
“People do not know them — but what does it matter, when Allah knows them?”
Brothers and sisters,
In our modern world, a person’s value is often measured by public recognition, applause, followers, and popularity… But Allah looks at the hearts and the intentions — not appearances or titles.
It doesn’t matter if no one knows your name, if you have no social status — as long as Allah knows you as a sincere, humble, and pious servant.
Do not be saddened if you go unnoticed.
Do not seek the recognition of people — seek the recognition of Allah.
The world forgets, but Allah never forgets.
People forget names — but Allah records hearts and deeds.
“Indeed, Allah knows those who are sincere.”
(Surah Al-`Ankabut, 3)
O Allah, make us among Your sincere servants — even if we are unknown to people — for being known to You is the true honor.
