Futsal Tournament Organized by Shoura (Gallery)
On Sunday, September 29, 2024, an inter-mosque futsal tournament took place in Echternach, under the patronage of Shoura – the Assembly of the Muslim Community of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The tournament brought together teams from 11 mosques, including: the Islamic Association of Luxembourg, the Islamic Association Le Juste Milieu, the Muslim Fraternal Association, the Islamic Cultural Center of Luxembourg, the Islamic Center in Luxembourg, the Islamic Cultural Center Nordstad, the Islamic and Cultural Association Afnane, the Islamic and Cultural Association Al-Rahma, the Islamic and Cultural Center Berat, the Islamic Center Gazi Isa-beg, and the Islamic Center Medina.
The tournament was officially opened with a Quran recitation by Hafiz Sead Subašić. In their opening speeches, the president of Shoura, Jasmin Jahić, and the religious leader of Luxembourg, Hafiz Hilmija Redžić, emphasized the importance of such events and their positive impact on the community. The competition was held in a friendly spirit, with many exciting matches and fair play.
A total of 11 teams participated, divided into four groups. After a series of close matches, the Berat mosque from Esch-sur-Alzette won first place in the tournament, while the Medina mosque from Wiltz took second place. The fair play award was given to the Contern mosque, and the tournament’s top scorer was Reda Boukharouba from the Al-Rahma mosque.
The tournament was well organized, and all matches were officiated professionally by Karim Aknane, who received the best referee award at the end. After the sports competition, participants and visitors enjoyed a friendly lunch with a barbecue, which concluded the event with a beautiful closing and a collective prayer in the hall.
