Harmonisation of prayer times in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

Following the communiqué of the European Fatwa Council on the revision of the prayer times for Western Europe, the Shoura was obliged to check the prayer times applied in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and took the decision to unify the prayer times for all associations affiliated to the Shoura, taking into account the following opinions:

• Opinion of the European Fatwa Council symposium, held in Istanbul on 26 and 27 September 2020 after 4 years of research in the field of astrology and Islamic sciences;
• Opinions of the Imams meeting throughout 2021 and 2022;
• Notice of the meeting held on November 4, 2022, by video, with the President and other members of the European Fatwa Council, scientists who worked on the new timetable, Imams and Presidents of the associations affiliated to the Shura.

The Shura acted on the advice of the Ulema and invited the Imams to give their opinion on the matter.

This decision is documented in writing, based on the research findings of the European Fatwa Council which took 4 years to develop and was taken on the basis of the opinion of the majority of Imams employed in Luxembourg.

The decision of the European Fatwa Council can be consulted on request at the Shoura.

We will follow this issue closely throughout the year as soon as the new head of worship arrives and will take any necessary future decisions on this matter in shaa Allah.

Presentations on the new prayer times will be held as needed by the worship leader in shaa Allah.
