Meeting with the Imams from the Gora Region (Gallery)
On Saturday, 14 March 2026, a meeting was held at the headquarters of the Shoura in Luxembourg with a delegation of imams and representatives of the Luxembourg-Gora a.s.b.l. association. The delegation was led by the chief imam Ajhan ef. Bećiri, accompanied by imam Edžmein ef. Redžepi. It also included the president of the Luxembourg-Gora a.s.b.l. association, Semir Jamini, as well as four members of the association: Alen Ibisi, Endi Ibisi, Nevdžadin Ferizi, and Meliz Pelivani.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by the president of the Shoura Jasmin Jahić, the head of the Muslim faith in Luxembourg Hafiz Hilmija Redžić, the member Claudio (Sufyan) Clori, as well as the Secretary General of the Shoura Lukman Aličković. The meeting took place in a friendly and open atmosphere, allowing participants to get to know each other and exchange experiences regarding their work within their communities.
During the discussions, the challenges faced by the people of Gora were presented. Gora is a mountainous region located at the crossroads of Kosovo, Albania and North Macedonia, with villages situated at an altitude of more than 1,200 meters. This region is known for its strong sense of community, the preservation of Islamic tradition and the distinctive cultural identity of the Gorani people, who throughout history have preserved their language, customs and religious life. Today, this community is also present in many European countries.
The meeting was an opportunity to discuss strengthening cooperation, mutual support and connections between communities, while emphasizing the importance of preserving the identity, religious life and cultural heritage of the people of Gora.
