Quran Evening in Luxembourg: A Celebration of Hifz, Youth, and Community (Gallery)

In a hall of the Grand Conservatory of the city of Luxembourg filled to capacity, the Quran Evening took place on October 5, 2024, organized by the Shoura – the General Assembly of Muslims in Luxembourg. This significant event, dedicated to learning and promoting Quranic values, brought together a large number of believers from various associations across the country.

At the beginning of the program, the president of the Shoura, Jasmin Jahić, welcomed the attendees and thanked them for their presence and perseverance on the path of goodness. He emphasized that the Muslim community in Luxembourg is committed to preserving Islamic values and continuously working for the common good. He also announced an important humanitarian initiative by the Waqf Foundation aimed at helping citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina affected by floods in the Jablanica and Konjic regions. Jahić stressed that the community will always strive to support those in need, both in our country and around the world.

Children in the Spotlight: Young Reciters from Luxembourg Associations

The beauty and brilliance of the evening were brought by young reciters of the Quran, representing Luxembourg associations. The children, aged 12 to 15, showcased their dedication and love for the Quran by reciting verses from various surahs. The participants included: Esma Ramdedović (AIWL), Handhala Badaoui (LJM), Muhammed Ali (IHSAN), Nedžma Mustafić (Gazi Isa-beg), Amina Hasanović (CCINS), Merisa Kočan (CICBL), Tarek Khir (Al-Rahma), Edah Ibrišević (CIL), Ahmed Ghizaoui (Afnane), Aisha Haxhiu (CCIL), Umeir Hodžić (CIM), Naila Jusufović (AIL), and Ayman Selmane (MERSCH).

Special Guests and Awards for the New Hafiz

The event was also marked by the presence of special guests – hafiz from different parts of the world. Among them were hafiz Youssef Al-Migbari, Jawad Zaknoun, Uvejs Hadži, Edin Matović, and Egzon Ibrahimi, who enriched the evening with their recitations of the Quran. The highlight of the evening was the awarding of certificates to two new hafiz from Luxembourg who have recently mastered hifz, that is, memorized the Quran, Tall Bah Mamadou (Muhammed) and Tall Fatoumata Binta (Fatima), originally from Senegal. The audience learned about the inspiring life stories of these two young hafiz who have studied the Quran in Guinea, Senegal, Spain, and finally Luxembourg.

The president of the Shoura, Jasmin Jahić, along with the religious leader of Muslims in Luxembourg, hafiz Hilmija Redžić, presented the awards to the new hafiz, highlighting that this moment is a special honor for the entire community.

Address by the Mufti, Religious Leader – Emphasis on Unity and Prosperity

The Mufti, the religious leader of Muslims in Luxembourg, hafiz Hilmija Redžić, in his address, emphasized the importance of unity, noting that Muslims in Luxembourg form a community of unity, prosperity, and peace, by the grace of Allah. “This is a community of unity, a community of prosperity, and we wholeheartedly thank Allah for these blessings that are the dream of the ummah, and we live them in this beautiful country, Luxembourg,” stated the Mufti. He also added that the Muslim community in Luxembourg is continually growing and that there is a need to consider a larger space for future events to allow all interested parties to participate, especially given that many were unable to attend this gathering due to the limited capacity of the hall.

Closing Ceremony: Presentation of the Mushaf for the Visually Impaired and Donations to Associations

The Quran Evening concluded with a special presentation of the mushaf (printed version of the Quran) for individuals with visual impairments, donated by the publishing house “Editions Paris Eglantine” to all associations affiliated with the Shoura. This braille mushaf represents an important step towards inclusion and access to the Quran for all, regardless of physical barriers.

In addition to the donations of mushafs to the associations, the publisher showcased projects aimed at improving access to religious materials for all believers at their stand. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about their work, and the gesture of offering mushafs received a warm response from the audience.

The prayer for the gathering was recited by a hafiz from Medina, Al-Swisry.

After the official part, the event concluded with a photo session and a buffet, providing attendees with the opportunity to socialize and share their impressions of this extremely successful evening, filled with spirituality and unity.
