New Meal Distribution Initiative at Stëmm vun der Strooss (Gallery)

On 18 November 2025, the Muslim Community of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg – the Shoura – organised a new meal distribution initiative in cooperation with the association Stëmm vun der Strooss, one of the most important social actors at the national level in Luxembourg. This association supports the most vulnerable members of our society, whose numbers, unfortunately, continue to grow.

The distribution took place at the premises of Stëmm vun der Strooss in Luxembourg City, which are open every day from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The aim of this organisation is to provide warm, high-quality and balanced meals at the price of €0.50, intended not only for those who cannot afford such meals at “normal” market prices, but also to develop, through its kitchen and other activities, a system of professional reintegration for individuals facing significant barriers to employment.

Thanks to the support of donors and partners, the Shoura financed the distribution of several hundred complete meals, which were offered free of charge to the beneficiaries. The distribution was carried out by a team of Shoura volunteers, in close cooperation with the staff of Stëmm vun der Strooss. The religious leader of the Muslims of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Hafiz Hilmija Redžić, was also present and participated as a volunteer throughout the entire initiative, thus highlighting the message of solidarity, compassion, and generosity.

The presence and support of the Shoura were warmly welcomed by those present during the distribution. This act of solidarity reflects the Shoura’s commitment to supporting national social projects and strengthening ties between various actors of Luxembourgish society, beyond cultural and religious differences. Our aim is to contribute to inclusion and social cohesion within our country and our multicultural society.

The funds used for this meal distribution initiative come from the Waqf Lëtzebuerg Foundation, created by the Shoura in 2018 with the aim of launching, supporting, and participating in projects of general interest for the Muslim community and for our country.

We would like to thank the entire team of Stëmm vun der Strooss, our volunteers, and all the donors who made this initiative possible.
