Day Dedicated to the Quran: 120 Young Reciters at the Hifz Competition Organized by the Shoura (Gallery)
On Saturday, February 7, 2026, the first competition for memorizing the Holy Quran was organized by the Shoura – the Assembly of the Muslim Community of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg – at the “Centre Culturel Islamique Nordstad” (CCINS) in Diekirch. A total of 120 candidates registered, reflecting a strong interest and ongoing dedication to learning the Quran among our children and youth.
The participants were evaluated by a panel of hafizes active within our community: Hilmija Redžić, Yusuf al-Migbari, Anass Doukali, Zikret Mustafić, Sead Subašić, and Ayman Zubayr. Candidates were assessed according to clearly defined rules: they selected questions from cards, and the evaluation was based on memorization, tajwid, and overall demeanor during recitation. Every mistake and correction was carefully recorded on evaluation sheets, and the total points determined the ranking. Parents were invited to stay in the cafeteria, while complete silence was maintained in the hall to allow uninterrupted recitation.
The differences in scores among participants were very small, clearly demonstrating the high quality of preparation and years of dedicated work with the muhafizes in our communities. The announcement of winners took place at the end of the competition, before the Isha prayer. The religious leader presented the results, congratulated the participants, and announced a special reception for the top-ranked at the Shoura headquarters. The competition was sponsored by the Waqf Foundation, which provided valuable prizes for the top performers.

We would like to especially highlight the dedication and support of the “Centre Culturel Islamique Nordstad” (CCINS), which, with the involvement of Imam Irfan ef. Hasanović and a group of mosque volunteers, ensured that the competition was held at this mosque with impeccable organization. We ask Allah to reward them abundantly.
Congratulations to the winners, with prayers that Allah increases their knowledge. We ask Allah to bless all participants and everyone who contributed to this competition, and to grant them barakah in their learning and future endeavors.
