Solidarity during Ramadan: Meal Distribution at Stëmm vun der Strooss (Gallery + Video)
“The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was the most generous person, and he was the most generous during Ramadan…” (Authentic Hadith)
On March 29, 2024, the Assembly of the Muslim Community of Luxembourg – the Shoura – organized a meal distribution in collaboration with the “Stëmm vun der Strooss” association, a significant social actor at the national level in Luxembourg, serving the underprivileged individuals of our society, whose numbers, unfortunately, continue to grow.
The distribution took place at the premises of Stëmm vun der Strooss in Luxembourg City, open every day from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. Stëmm vun der Strooss aims to provide hot, high-quality, balanced meals at a price of 0.50 euros, targeting not only those who cannot afford such meals at the “normal” market price but also implementing a vocational reintegration system for individuals struggling to find employment.
In the blessed month of Ramadan, the Shoura is delighted to have funded the distribution of approximately 400 complete meals free of charge. The distribution was carried out jointly by a team of Shoura volunteers and Stëmm vun der Strooss personnel. The religious leader of Muslims in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Hafiz Hilmija Redžić, also visited the site and met with Mr. Charles Bechet, Site Manager at Stëmm vun der Strooss.
The presence and support of the Shoura during this distribution were warmly welcomed by all present.
This act of solidarity reflects the Shoura’s commitment to supporting significant national social projects and strengthening ties between various actors in Luxembourgish society, transcending cultural and religious barriers. We aspire to promote inclusion and social cohesion in our country and our multicultural society.
The money used for this distribution action comes from the Waqf Lëtzebuerg foundation, established by the Shoura in 2018 to initiate, support, and contribute to projects of public utility for the Muslim community and our country (for more information, please visit https://waqf.lu/).
