On the occasion of Luxembourg’s National Day, celebrated on 23 June, the Muslim Religious Leader of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Hafiz Hilmija ef. Redžić, took part in the traditional TE DEUM ceremony held at the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg.

The TE DEUM is one of the most solemn moments of the National Day celebrations. It brings together His Royal Highness Grand Duke Guillaume, members of the Grand Ducal family, the highest state authorities, representatives of the government, the Chamber of Deputies, the Council of State, the judiciary, the diplomatic corps, religious communities, as well as numerous figures from Luxembourg’s public life.

This edition carried particular historical significance as it was the first TE DEUM celebrated on National Day under the reign of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Guillaume, Duke of Nassau and Prince of Bourbon-Parma. This year’s ceremonies also took place under exceptionally high temperatures.

During the celebration, Hafiz Hilmija ef. Redžić recited the first chapter of the Qur’an, Al-Fatiha, accompanied by a translation of its meaning into German. This surah, which opens the Qur’an, summarizes the fundamental teachings of Islam and serves as an invocation for guidance, mercy, and peace.

As part of the National Day celebrations, several official receptions were also held, notably at the Luxembourg Philharmonie as well as in various national institutions.

The President of the Shoura, Mr. Jasmin Jahić, the Muslim Religious Leader, as well as several members of the Shoura took part in these official events, thereby reaffirming the commitment of the Muslim community to the institutional and civic life of the Grand Duchy, as well as its attachment to dialogue, mutual respect, and coexistence.
