Traditional Eid al-Adha Celebration in Luxembourg: A Joint Festivity of Muslims in Gasperich (Gallery)
In keeping with a beautiful tradition nurtured over many years in Luxembourg, this year’s Eid al-Adha was once again celebrated with a joint gathering of Muslims from all mosques united under the Shoura – the sole representative body of Muslims in the Grand Duchy.
The Eid celebration took place at the Emile Bintner stadium in Gasperich, where hundreds people gathered under clear skies and in a warm, friendly atmosphere, accompanied by their families, friends, and neighbors.
The event was designed to create a family-friendly environment, with special attention given to activities for children. Numerous games and fun attractions allowed the youngest participants to enjoy carefree hours of play. The children’s smiles and joy were the most beautiful highlight of this festive day.
The celebration was further enriched by various stalls offering food and drinks, traditional dishes, sweets, literature, Islamic books, clothing and other items. A strong spiritual dimension was brought by the collective prayers, which served as a powerful reminder of the meaning and beauty of Eid.
One of the most notable aspects of the event was its openness and inclusivity. The multicultural character of the Muslim community in Luxembourg was clearly visible, and this diversity of cultural identities united by a shared faith is regarded by the Shoura as one of its greatest strengths.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the many non-Muslim guests who honored the celebration with their presence, affirming the spirit of mutual respect, dialogue, and openness.
We warmly thank everyone who contributed to the success of this event and wish all Muslims that the days of Eid may always be filled with peace, happiness, and togetherness.
