Wide Range of Activities for Ramadan in All Luxembourg Mosques

On Sunday, February 25, 2024, the third regular meeting of imams and the Muslim spiritual leader, Hafiz Hilmija Redžić, was held at the AFM mosque in the city of Mersch. During the meeting, activities of all mosques for the month of Ramadan were presented. A particular emphasis will be placed on the Quran. In this regard, some mosques offer programs to follow the recitation of the entire Quran. Additionally, all mosques will host Quran reciters and hafiz who, through their recitation during Tarawih prayers and night prayers, will add a special touch. It was particularly noted that during Ramadan, interpersonal relationships are strengthened, and interfaith relations are enhanced through iftars organized in all mosques in Luxembourg, including those where each mosque invites all imams and representatives from other mosques as guests. Finally, the Shoura, as the highest authority of Muslims in Luxembourg, is organizing two iftars this year: the first bringing together all representatives of Muslims in Luxembourg, and the second gathering the Muslim youth of Luxembourg.

Zakat and sadaqat al-fitr are obligatory forms of charity that take on particular importance during Ramadan, but increased awareness of voluntary charity sharing is particularly emphasized during Ramadan. The Waqf Lëtzebuerg foundation, along with all mosques in Luxembourg, facilitates the collection and distribution of zakat and sadaqat al-fitr. Mosques are ready to welcome all worshippers to perform numerous acts of devotion throughout the month of Ramadan. In conclusion, the imams and the spiritual leader expressed their pride and immense gratitude to Allah for the atmosphere in which Muslims experience Ramadan in the Grand Duchy.
