New Meal Distribution at Stëmm vun der Strooss

The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, was the most generous of men, and he was the most generous during Ramadan… (Authentic Hadith)

On July 2, 2024, the Assembly of the Muslim Community of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg – the Shoura – organized a second meal distribution event in collaboration with the association “Stëmm vun der Strooss,” a significant social actor at the national level in Luxembourg serving the underprivileged members of our society, whose numbers, unfortunately, continue to grow.

The distribution took place at the Stëmm vun der Strooss premises in Luxembourg City, which are open daily from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. The aim of Stëmm vun der Strooss is to provide hot, quality, and balanced meals at a price of 0.50 euros, targeting not only those who cannot afford such meals at the “normal” market price but also establishing a professional reintegration system for people struggling to find work.

In the context of the blessed month of Dhul Hijja, the Shoura is delighted to have been able to finance the distribution of approximately 450 complete meals free of charge. The distribution was carried out by a team of Shoura volunteers, in collaboration with the staff of Stëmm vun der Strooss. The religious leader of the Muslims in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Hafiz Hilmija Redžić, was also present and participated as a volunteer throughout the distribution action, thereby reinforcing the message of solidarity and generosity.

The presence and support of the Shoura during this distribution were warmly welcomed by all those present. This act of solidarity reflects the Shoura’s commitment to supporting national social projects and strengthening ties between the different actors of Luxembourg society, transcending cultural and religious barriers. We aspire to promote inclusion and social cohesion in our country and our multicultural society.

The funds used for this distribution action come from the Waqf Lëtzebuerg foundation, established by the Shoura in 2018 to initiate, support, and contribute to public utility projects for the Muslim community and our country (for more information, visit https://waqf.lu/).
