Strengthening Solidarity and Enhancing Education: Visit to the University of Luxembourg and Youth Camp Seminar (Gallery)

Last week, as part of activities aimed at strengthening religious education and youth activism, a visit to the University of Luxembourg and a seminar for young people, the “Youth Camp Seminar,” were organized. The university visit was led by Mufti and religious leader Hafiz Hilmija Redžić, accompanied by the Secretary General Lukman Aličković, and a group of imams, including Hafiz Sead ef. Subašić, Hafiz Abdelhakim Badaoui, Fikret ef. Kalabić, Nedžad ef. Zilkić, and Irfan ef. Hasanović. The coordinator of the visit was Admir Škrijelj, an employee at the University Library (Luxembourg Learning Center), who facilitated an inspiring meeting with students from the social and natural sciences. The students had the opportunity to present their work and daily life at the university, sharing their experiences and the challenges of studying at an institution ranked higher than all universities from the former Yugoslavia.

Over the past weekend, a youth seminar, titled the “Youth Camp Seminar,” was held, sponsored by the Shoura and organized by three mosques: CCIL, AIL, and Al Rahma. The seminar brought together 47 young participants, providing them the chance to deepen their knowledge and skills through interactive lectures given by Hafiz Nedim Botić, professor of Islamic sciences, and Hafiza Amina Mujela Botić, who holds a master’s degree in Islamic studies.

Hafiz Nedim Botić, born in Bosanska Dubica where he completed his primary and secondary education, faced the autoimmune disease Crohn’s disease in the eighth grade, which he considers a blessing that changed his life. He completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy in Bihać and is currently working on his master’s thesis. He began memorizing the Quran with Professor Dr. Hajrudin Hodžić and completed it with Dr. Hafiz Dževad Hrvačić, becoming the first Hafiz of the Quran from Bosanska Dubica in over a hundred years. As a lecturer and author of numerous articles, he has received awards from the University of Bihać, the Medžlis of the Islamic Community of Bosanska Dubica, the Islamic Community of Bosniaks in Norway, and other institutions.

Hafiza Amina Mujela Botić, born in Konjic, graduated from the Karađoz-beg Islamic high school and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in theology at the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Sarajevo. Twice recognized as the top student by the Federal Ministry of Culture and Education, she is also a recipient of the Gold Medal from the University of Sarajevo. She currently serves as the director of the education sector at the Jannah Institute in the United States, in collaboration with Hafiza Dr. Haifa Younis. She is also a lecturer and member of the Department of Marriage and Family at the Sarajevo Muftiyat and the Sarajevo Medžlis.

The coordinators of this youth program, from concept to execution, were Hafiz Sead Subašić and his wife Hafiza Džejlana Sakić, who also hosted the seminar, which took place entirely at the CCIL mosque in Mamer.

The camp program included a knowledge quiz, an educational screening of the film “The Message,” as well as workshops and discussions that enriched participants’ experiences. The seminar concluded with a certificate ceremony for all participants, with special thanks to Hafiz Nedim Botić and Hafiza Amina Mujela Botić for their contributions.
