Gathering of Luxembourg Pilgrims at Al Rahma Mosque (Gallery)
Under the patronage of the Shoura – the Assembly of the Muslim Community of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, and organized by Al Rahma Mosque, a solemn gathering for the pilgrims departing from Luxembourg to perform Hajj this year was held on Saturday, 16 May 2026. This spiritual and community event brought together pilgrims, imams, representatives of the Muslim community, and worshippers around one of the greatest journeys in the life of a Muslim.
The program began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Hafiz Yusuf Almigbari, giving the gathering a deeply spiritual and dignified atmosphere. Afterwards, Sheikh Salim Yaiouche, imam of Al Rahma Mosque, welcomed all attendees, including the pilgrims, guests, imams, and representatives of the Muslim community, expressing his joy at seeing the believers gathered ahead of this blessed journey to the holy sites of Islam. The Vice President of the Shoura, Muhamed Ćeman, then addressed the audience, emphasizing the greatness and significance of Hajj, reminding those present that Hajj is not merely a physical journey, but a profound spiritual experience and a response to the divine call that has gathered Muslims from all corners of the world for centuries.
The religious leader of Muslims in Luxembourg, Hafiz Hilmija Redžić, stressed in his speech that the journey of Hajj is an honor from the very first to the very last step. He reminded the audience that Allah chooses certain servants to be guests of His Sacred House, and that Hajj is not only a ritual, but a path of purification, sincere repentance, humility, and closeness to Allah Almighty.
A special session of speeches by Luxembourg imams then followed. Hafiz Zikret Mustafić reminded the audience of the virtues of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah and the immense value of righteous deeds performed during these blessed days. Hafiz Anass Doukali spoke about the significance of the Day of ‘Arafah, both for the pilgrims standing at ‘Arafah and for Muslims around the world who spend that day in fasting, supplication, repentance, and remembrance of Allah. Sheikh Muhammad Zakaria reflected on the symbolism of Hajj and its rituals, explaining that every detail of the pilgrimage carries deep spiritual meanings and that Hajj gathers within itself some of the greatest worldly and eternal blessings. Sheikh Haidar Battal emphasized that Hajj is a journey of honor and a tremendous divine blessing, while Dr. Ahmad Al-Hademi reminded the audience of the importance of not delaying Hajj once a person has the means and ability to perform it.
Hafiz Sead Subašić reflected on the greatness of the Qur’anic verses regarding Hajj, especially Allah’s promise that people would respond to His call from every distant place on earth, a reality witnessed every year through the arrival of millions of pilgrims of different languages, peoples, and cultures gathered in one sacred place. Hafiz Abdelhakim Badaoui emphasized that Hajj unites both worldly and eternal blessings, combining worship, unity, patience, sacrifice, devotion, and hope in Allah’s mercy and forgiveness. Each speaker concluded with heartfelt supplications for the pilgrims, asking Allah to grant them a blessed journey, accept their Hajj, ease their rites, protect them, and return them safely to their families purified from sins and filled with blessings.
It was also highlighted during the gathering that, on Wednesday, a special reception was organized at the Embassy in Brussels for two pilgrims from Luxembourg, Lukman Aličković and Karim Aknine, who will perform Hajj this year under the patronage of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj as guests of the King of Saudi Arabia. The reception reflected the appreciation and honor granted to the pilgrims participating in this distinguished program.
At the conclusion of the program, Muhammad Matara performed an emotional nasheed about Hajj, further enriching the spiritual atmosphere of the gathering. After the Maghrib prayer, a communal dinner was served for all attendees in a dignified and brotherly atmosphere.
This gathering once again demonstrated the beauty of the multinational and multicultural organization of Muslims in Luxembourg through the united Muslim community gathered within the Shoura, where different languages, cultures, and backgrounds reflect unity of faith, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to preserving Islamic values and strengthening Muslim unity in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
We ask Allah Almighty to accept the Hajj of all pilgrims, accept their prayers and acts of worship, ease their journey, protect them throughout their pilgrimage, and return them safely to their families, surrounded by His mercy, blessings, and forgiveness.
