Islamic Knowledge Quiz Brought Together the Best Mekteb Teams (Gallery)
On Sunday, 7 June 2026, the second Islamic Knowledge Quiz organized by the Shoura took place at the Gazi Isa-beg Islamic Center in Esch-sur-Alzette, with the support of the Waqf Lëtzebuerg Foundation. Following the first edition, which focused on the biography of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and the stories of the prophets, this new edition was expanded to cover general Islamic knowledge, allowing children to demonstrate their understanding of various aspects of Islam.
The quiz brought together mosques that are members of the Shoura. After organizing internal competitions within their mektebs and communities, these mosques had the opportunity to delegate their best teams to represent them in this inter-mekteb Islamic knowledge competition, which was organized in two age categories. This approach gave the event special significance, as the participants represented their mosques after achieving the best results in the local selection rounds. Throughout the program, the children displayed an excellent level of preparation, concentration, and teamwork in an atmosphere marked by seriousness, mutual respect, and friendliness. In several cases, only a few seconds separated the teams, demonstrating the participants’ high level of knowledge.
At the beginning of the program, the Muslim Religious Leader in Luxembourg, Hafiz Hilmija ef. Redžić, addressed the participants, parents, and imams in attendance. He wished the children every success and emphasized the importance of learning, Islamic education, and strengthening young people’s connection to faith and knowledge. The President of the Waqf Lëtzebuerg Foundation, Nermin Rastoder, also greeted the participants and expressed his support for educational initiatives that contribute to the development of knowledge, identity, and unity among young Muslims.
The coordination of the quiz was ensured by the secretaries of the Shoura, Lukman Aličković and Damir Adrović, while several imams were present to support the teams and ensure that the competition was conducted in a transparent and fair manner.
In Category A, first place was won by the CIL Contern team, composed of Alina Ahmetović, Din Skenderović, and Ilma Dautbašić. Second place went to the Gazi Isa-beg team, composed of Zakir Dacić, Ahmed Skoko, and Kerim Zornić, while third place was awarded to the CCIL Mamer team, composed of Merjem Halilović, Aiša Honsić, and Imran Honsić.
In Category B, first place was won by the CCINS team, composed of Hena Hasanović, Amina Hasanović, and Hajrije Ćupi. Second place went to the Gazi Isa-beg team, composed of Imran Muhović, Omar Mucević, and Tarik Mucević, while third place was awarded to the CIL Contern team, composed of Taib Karalić, Edah Ibrišević, and Anur Kratović.
All of the teams demonstrated an excellent level of knowledge, discipline, and cooperation. Although the quiz had a competitive aspect, its primary objective remained to encourage children to learn about their religion, develop a spirit of teamwork, and strengthen their attachment to Islamic values and their community.
At the end of the program, the Gazi Isa-beg Islamic Center, which hosted the event, offered a communal dinner to all participants, parents, and guests in attendance, bringing this memorable day of knowledge, brotherhood, and fellowship to a close in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The organizers extend their sincere gratitude to all participating mosques, the imams, parents, volunteers, and the Waqf Lëtzebuerg Foundation for their support and contribution to the success of this program. They also express the hope that such activities will continue to encourage younger generations to seek knowledge and preserve Islamic values.
