Reception of Dr. Khaled Al-Hanafi at the Headquarters of the Shoura
On Saturday, 13 June, the Shoura – the Assembly of the Muslim Community of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg – had the honor of welcoming Dr. Khaled Al-Hanafi to its headquarters. He was received by the Muslim Religious Leader in Luxembourg, Hafiz Hilmija Redžić, in the presence of Hafiz Zikret Mustafić and Hafiz Anass Doukali.
During this meeting, Dr. Al-Hanafi presented the findings of his many years of research devoted to the issue of prayer times, particularly in the context of Muslim communities living in Europe and in regions experiencing unique astronomical conditions. The exchange provided an opportunity to discuss various legal, scientific, and practical approaches related to this important subject, in an atmosphere of constructive dialogue and thoughtful reflection.
Dr. Khaled Al-Hanafi is regarded as one of the most prominent contemporary Muslim scholars in Europe. Holding a doctorate in the Foundations of Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh) from Al-Azhar University in Cairo, he serves in several leading academic and institutional capacities, including as Dean of the European Institute of Human Sciences in Frankfurt, President of the Council of Imams and Scholars of Germany, and Deputy Secretary-General of the European Council for Fatwa and Research. His numerous scholarly contributions address contemporary issues faced by Muslim communities across Europe.
The meeting concluded in a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation, reflecting the importance of academic dialogue and the exchange of experiences in addressing the current challenges facing the Muslim presence in Europe.
