Plenary Meeting of the Shoura Held in Differdange
On Sunday, 16 November 2025, a plenary meeting of the Shoura – Assembly of the Muslim Community of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg – was held at the premises of the Islamic and Cultural Association Afnane in Differdange, starting at 5:30 p.m. (after the Maghrib prayer). The meeting was attended by members of the Shoura, the religious leader, the imams, representatives of the mosques, as well as representatives of the Waqf Foundation.
The participants reviewed and harmonised the key points related to the adoption of standardised statutes for all mosques, the future work and development of the Waqf Foundation, the adjustment of the takvim as from 2026, and the improvement of the organisation of janazas within the community, in accordance with Islamic tradition and applicable legislation. During the meeting, a unified methodology was also adopted for determining the beginning and end of Ramadan, as well as all other important dates in the Islamic calendar.
It was emphasised that one of the main factors contributing to the success of our community lies in the constant respect for the rules and procedures agreed upon collectively. It is precisely this sense of responsibility and adherence to established standards that characterise our community and enable it to function in a calm, transparent, and efficient manner at all levels.
