The Visit to the Islamic Cultural Center of Luxembourg in Mamer”

Mosques in Luxembourg offer a wide range of activities with significant Muslim participation. In addition to Friday and daily prayers, mosques provide classes for children, regular weekly lectures, Quran study circles, and various activities tailored to the needs of the faithful.

To support these quality activities, the religious leader of Luxembourg’s Muslims, Hafiz Hilmija Redžić, continues a series of unannounced visits by participating in various events. This weekend, the visit focused on the Islamic Cultural Center in Mamer. On Saturday, January 21, 2024, at 6 p.m., a fundraising evening was organized to complete the construction work on this magnificent center. The program, which soothed the souls of the faithful, saw the participation of the president of the Shoura – Assembly of the Muslim community of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Jasmin Jahić, the religious leader Hafiz Hilmija Redžić, the imam of the Islamic center “Le Juste Milieu”, Hafiz Abdelhakim Badaoui, as well as imams Mr. Halil ef. Ahmetspahić and Hafiz Sead Subašić. The evening began with the melodious recitation of the Quran by the reciter Sufjan Mustafić. The message of the evening was that our investments in our mosques are our most direct form of investment in our Islamic education, preserving and building successful generations in this world and the hereafter. The speeches were filled with motivating examples from history, reminding how early generations were devoted to constructing significant institutions, especially mosques. The response to donations was very positive, and from this Ramadan, the faithful will be able to use this mosque in a completely new environment.

This magnificent center takes on a new appearance after many years of hard work to finally reflect the role it plays. It is the first mosque or the oldest Islamic center in Luxembourg. Its characteristic is the harmony between the faithful and between generations. This symbolically demonstrates that the mosque has two imams who are the best representatives of this generational integration. The first imam, Mr. Halil Ahmetspahić, invested the most beautiful years of his life as the imam of this center. When it becomes an inevitable necessity, Hafiz Sead Subašić joins him in his work, bringing with him his mastery of the Quran, and with him, his wife, also a Hafiza, elevates the spirit and energy of the community to a desired new level. You cannot miss this synergy if you visit this center.

On the second day of the weekend, the religious leader visited the Quranic school of this mosque with the Shoura secretary, Damir Adrović. The radiant faces of the children did not hide their satisfaction during this visit, which was particularly pleasing for the teachers. The Quranic school is structured through several groups and sessions, from early childhood to youth, each finding its place to receive guidance to follow the right path. It was particularly enjoyable to listen to the recitation of Quranic verses learned by the students of the Quranic school, and interactivity was not lacking – a quiz on Islamic knowledge at the Shoura level was a proposal from our children. The coordinator of this visit was Asmir ef. Honsić, who also presented the basic program of working with the children. With some small symbolic gifts for the children, as well as coffee with the imams and parents, the visit ended with the communal Dhuhr prayer.

Feel free to visit this mosque, which is located at the address:
